Why word of mouth is not always enough

Most trades run on recommendations, and that works until it does not. A big job finishes early, a regular customer moves away, or a quiet patch in the calendar arrives just as the van needs new tyres. That is when you need people in your area to know you are free.

Homeowners looking for a tradesperson ask neighbours first, then check local groups and Nextdoor. They want someone who covers their postcode, turns up when they say, and does the kind of job they need. A clear advert with your name, your area and your trade does a lot of that work.

Kabooly Marketing knows your services and the areas you cover, so it can suggest a topic and give you finished text and images without you sitting down to write anything from scratch.

Advert ideas

Adverts trades make with it

Use the suggested topic, type your own, or ask it for something different.

  • Boiler servicing before the cold weather

A seasonal advert for heating engineers, reminding homeowners to book a service while there is still time in the diary.

    Suits: NextdoorFacebook

  • Free to take on work next week

A short, direct advert saying you have a gap, what size of job suits it, and which areas you cover.

    Suits: NextdoorFacebook

  • Rewiring and consumer unit upgrades

For electricians focusing on one service, explaining in plain terms when an older property might need it and offering a visit to look.

    Suits: FacebookNextdoor

  • Extensions and loft conversions in your town

For builders, naming the areas you work in and inviting people planning work next year to get a quote early.

    Suits: FacebookInstagram

  • Small jobs welcome

Tells neighbours you are happy to fix a dripping tap or hang a door, which many bigger firms will not quote for.

    Suits: Nextdoor

What makes a trade advert work

  • Say where you work

Add your local area to your profile and it goes into the advert text. People scroll past a trade advert that does not mention their town.

  • Only mention registrations you hold

If you are registered for gas or electrical work, say so in your services and it can appear in adverts. Never let an advert suggest a registration or accreditation you do not have.

  • Images are illustrations

The images are made by AI with your logo and colours where it can. They are not photos of your work, so do not present them as a job you completed.

  • Keep the tone how you talk

Most trades set the tone towards casual. Customers want to hear from a straight-talking person, not a corporate brochure.

Questions from tradespeople

Where do I make the adverts?

Marketing runs at marketing.kabooly.com in your browser, with its own login using email or Google. You copy the text and download the images to post them yourself.

Is Nextdoor included?

Yes. Tick Nextdoor and you get a 1200 by 1200 image. Instagram and Facebook are also available for the same advert.

I do several trades. Can it advertise each one?

Yes. List every service in your profile, then type a topic for the one you want to push, such as bathroom fitting one week and tiling the next.

Will it use the logo on my van?

If your logo is on your website, enter the address and it picks up the logo and colours for you to check. Otherwise you can upload the logo and set the colours yourself.

Does it post adverts or run paid ads for me?

No. It does not post, schedule or manage ad spend. It makes the text and images, and saves each advert in your library.
