Tips

Contacts
- Agree tag names as a team, and use them the same way every time.
- Log activities straight after a call or meeting, while you remember the details.
- Give every follow-up a task with a due date, so the dashboard reminds you.
- Set a lead quality on new enquiries, so you know who to call first.
Deals
- Move deals to their new stage as soon as things change.
- Set honest expected close dates, and update them when they slip.
- Note the key decisions on the deal, so anyone can pick it up.
- Check the Deals Pipeline report each week for deals that have stalled.
Email marketing
- Only email people who have agreed to hear from you.
- Use dynamic lists, so new contacts who match join without you lifting a finger.
- Send yourself a test first, from a small list with only you on it.
- Personalise with merge tags, with a fallback such as {{first_name|there}}.
- Read each campaign’s report, and keep what works.
Automations
- Start small: test one action before building a long sequence.
- Use filters between actions so only the right contacts carry on.
- For an email series, use a manual run with waits to space the emails out.
- Check the history now and then, to be sure each automation is doing its job.
- Deactivate automations you no longer use.
Clean data
- When you find a duplicate, keep one record and delete the other.
- Check email addresses before adding people to a list; a hard bounce unsubscribes them.
- Delete contacts you no longer need.
- Tick off finished tasks, so the open ones stand out.
